What is operations security?

Operations security is a process that uses critical information from your organisation to ensure that the operations in your information processing facilities are well controlled and well managed.

It is a risk management approach that pushes managers to view operations from a perspective that will stop information from getting to the wrong people.

When thinking about this from an organisational perspective, operations security could include things like ensuring your employees do not share log in details through email, social media or text message.

The process of Operations Security results in counteractive measures being put into place, which can include both technical and non-technical measures. Examples of some of these measures are the use of email encryption software, and ensuring your organisation is taking precautions around who may be able to have access to hearing important details being discussed.
