What is ISO 14001?

ISO 14001 is an international standard for environmental management system.

It has requirements for an organisation to meet order to demonstrate that they have an Environmental Management System (EMS) in place. It then needs to meet the specifications established by the International Organisation for Standards (ISO)

ISO 14001 is not a performance standard, and therefore doesn’t establish indicators for environmental compliance – instead its intention is to provide an organisation with the framework necessary to construct an effective environmental management system that promotes protection of the environment via (amongst other things) increased awareness, continuous improvement and a systematic approach to the mitigation of adverse environmental effects.
